If you’re looking to complete an international surrogacy as an intended parent living in a country other than the United States, you’ve come to the right place.
American Surrogacy is honored to work with many international intended parents who are interested in surrogacy abroad in the U.S. Our agency works with singles, infertile couples, and LGBT members across the world who are hoping to become parents through our international surrogacy programs.
Even though you may live outside the United States, we’re dedicated to providing you the same quality of services as we would for any intended parents who live inside our nation’s borders — services that protect your rights as intended parents and finally help you complete your dream of adding a little bundle of joy to your life.
We know that where you live shouldn’t dictate whether or not you can become a parent through the surrogacy process, so we make every effort for you to have a successful international surrogacy experience with our trained surrogacy specialists. We accept into our international surrogacy programs prospective international intended parents from:
- Canada
- England
- France
- Germany
- Sweden
- Switzerland
- Italy
- Spain
- Ireland
- Israel
- India
- China
- Japan
- Most other countries
No matter how far away you are, our international surrogacy team will always be there for your support.
For more information on what an overseas surrogacy might look like for your family, please contact us online or at 1-800-875-2229(BABY). Our surrogacy specialists can help you understand how your location and surrogacy preferences will shape the parenthood journey that you take with us.
Why Choose American Surrogacy for Your International Surrogacy?
We know that you have many American international surrogacy programs to choose from, and we respect your right to make the decision that’s best for you and your family. To help you make that choice, however, we want to make sure that you completely understand the benefits of completing an overseas surrogacy with our agency.
Hopeful parents choose American Surrogacy for their international surrogacy because we:
- extensively screen our surrogates through medical evaluations, psychological tests, in-home assessments, criminal background clearances, and child abuse checks, all before they are available to be matched.
- provide unmatched support for both international intended parents and surrogates throughout the surrogacy process and beyond via phone, email, text, Skype, and in-person when possible.
- partner with experienced attorneys who specialize in assisted reproductive technologies and who will fully adhere to your country’s surrogacy laws and the state in which the surrogacy occurs.
- take great care to ensure you and your baby legally return home by securing passports, visas, and any other documents required by your country.
When you choose to complete an international surrogacy with American Surrogacy, you know that you will be given support and guidance from your surrogacy specialist every step of the way. The steps we take in our surrogacy programs reduce the likelihood that your surrogacy situation disrupts in any way — helping to ensure that you don’t have to wait any longer than necessary before you hold your baby in your arms. No matter the differences in culture or language, American Surrogacy and our team will make sure that you feel respected during every part of your surrogacy journey with us.
How is International Surrogacy Different from Domestic Surrogacy?
Surrogacy abroad can seem intimidating: You’re trusting a woman thousands of miles away to carry your child, you cannot be there for every part of the surrogacy process, and you may face differences in culture or language. Despite this, prospective intended parents are often surprised (and relieved) to hear that international surrogacies are very similar to domestic — and that American Surrogacy will do all that’s possible to make the international surrogacy journey as easy as possible for you.
With international surrogacy, almost all of the steps of the surrogacy process remain the same, including the screening, matching, and embryo transfer processes, as well as the hospital experience. And there’s no need to worry about complications with finding the perfect surrogate, either; we have plenty of prospective surrogates who are willing and excited to carry a child for parents living in another country!
Aside from the legal process (which your attorney will handle), the only other difference in surrogacy abroad simply involves logistics in communication. However, we live in a time when communicating between cities is as easy as communicating between countries. Regardless of whether an intended parent lives in California, Toronto, or London, our surrogacy specialists are always available by phone, email, text, Skype, and of course, in person, if you come visit it us here in the U.S. If you do get the chance to visit American Surrogacy, we might even treat you to some of our world-famous Kansas City barbecue!
Your chosen surrogate will also take the necessary steps to communicate with you and keep you up to date as her pregnancy progresses. While you may not be able to physically be there for doctor’s appointments and other important moments, she will be dedicated to taking videos and photos and sending you frequent updates as you wait for your child to be born via surrogacy overseas. Your communication preferences will be determined and discussed during the signing of your legal contract.
We know that visiting the U.S. can be complicated and expensive. That’s why international surrogacy only requires 2-4 visits to America:
- Meeting with surrogate and tour of the medical facility (optional)
- Embryo transfer process
- Ultrasound (optional)
- Birth of the baby
All other trips to America are completely optional, although many intended parents do take one or two extra trips to the United States during and after the international surrogacy process to visit their chosen surrogate. However, as you can see, it is entirely possible for us to complete your surrogacy process from beginning to end and offer you support well after the surrogacy is completed, without ever meeting you face-to-face. How much you decide to visit the United States will be up to your personal circumstances and your relationship with your surrogate.
Finally, if you do not speak English, we are happy to work with a translator to help complete your international surrogacy. We know that the desire to build a family has no language barrier, and we’ll take all the steps necessary to make your international surrogacy proceed as smoothly as possible, no matter what language you speak.
