Surrogacy Programs for Parents of Single Embryos

You can pursue surrogacy with one embryo through our surrogacy programs.

Most surrogacy agencies require multiple embryos, leaving parents with a single embryo feeling like they have no options. But at American Surrogacy, we believe you deserve the chance to start your family through surrogacy.

Contact us today to learn more about how our programs can give you peace of mind as you navigate this important journey.

Can You Do Surrogacy with One Embryo?

Yes, you can. Having only one embryo may feel like an obstacle, especially when many surrogacy agencies turn parents away.

Whether only one embryo made it to blastocyst or you have one embryo left for surrogacy after failed IVF, we don’t believe only having one embryo should stand between you and parenthood.

We recognize the challenges you’ve already faced to get to this point, and we are determined to help you take the next step. Unlike other agencies, we fully support single-embryo intended parents.

We can help you find a surrogate who shares your determination. With us, you don’t have to worry about whether your one embryo is enough. We will do everything we can to help you become a parent.

Our Programs for Surrogacy with a Single Embryo

We offer three surrogacy programs to fit different needs and financial situations. If you are considering surrogacy and only have one embryo left, you can choose any of these programs depending on which one is the best fit.

Foundation Program: Flexible, Pay-As-You-Go

The Foundation Program offers a flexible path to parenthood with a lower starting cost. It’s a pay-as-you-go program, but additional out-of-pocket expenses may arise if the match falls through or requires rematching.

Limited Risk Program: Financial Protection

The Limited Risk Program offers financial protection and peace of mind. If your surrogacy journey experiences disruptions before the transfer, we provide unlimited matching and you are financially protected on any services that would need to be repeated before the embryo transfer.

Independent Program

Our Independent Program is ideal if you have already found a surrogate or plan to find a surrogate on your own. It’s perfect for those who want a lower-cost journey with greater flexibility without compromising on the support and guidance necessary for a successful journey.

How is American Surrogacy Different From Other Agencies?

Along with being one of the only agencies that has a program for intended parents with only one embryo left, we also provide a unique program structure that gives you the best chance for success.

There are a lot of potential pitfalls along the way before you get to the transfer attempt. That’s why, when you have just one embryo left, you need a program that provides security and peace of mind.

Our Limited Risk Program is designed to protect you from these obstacles, such as:

  • Unexpected events in your surrogate’s personal life resulting in your surrogate needing to back out

  • Your surrogate not being approved by your fertility clinic

  • Unforeseen changes in your surrogate’s health status making her ineligible for the embryo transfer

If any of these situations occur, the fees you pay will be applied to your next match. As long as you have your embryo, you have unlimited match attempts at no extra cost.

We understand that surrogacy is a significant financial investment, which is why our Limited Risk Program offers built-in protection.

Special Considerations for Surrogacy with Only One Embryo Left

You May Experience Longer Wait Times

For both of our agency-assisted matching programs, our wait times to be matched with a surrogate are 1 - 4 months. For single-embryo parents, matching may take a little longer than our standard wait time.

While many surrogates pursue surrogacy to help couples and individuals grow their families, many also hope to receive compensation to support themselves and their families.

Surrogate payments don’t begin until after a pregnancy is confirmed, meaning if the transfer isn't successful, they won't receive any compensation.

However, even with the slight increase in wait times, our agency is still able to provide shorter wait times compared to many other agencies that don’t work with single embryo families.

Financial Considerations if the Embryo Transfer is Unsuccessful

If you only have one embryo from IVF and the surrogate embryo transfer is unsuccessful, we have a modified refund policy as there would be no opportunity to move forward with another transfer.

Our agency fees cover services provided throughout your journey, including surrogate screening and matching.

While we offer financial protection in many scenarios, families with a single embryo should be aware that a failed transfer means the process cannot continue unless additional embryos are acquired.

Alternatives if Your Embryo Transfer Is Unsuccessful

While we are committed to helping you become parents through surrogacy with a single embryo, we also want you to know that there are alternative paths to parenthood if the transfer does not work.

Our specialists can help you explore options such as:

  • Donor embryos: Embryo donation allows you to receive an embryo created by another family who has completed their IVF journey. These embryos are often high quality and allow you to experience pregnancy and birth while still growing your family through assisted reproduction.

  • Creating new embryos with donor eggs and/or sperm: If you are open to another IVF cycle, you can create new embryos using donor sperm, donor eggs or a combination of both.

  • Adoption: Adoption can provide another meaningful way to grow your family. The staff at our sister agency, American Adoptions, can guide you through the infant adoption process.

Whatever your decision, we are here to guide you through your options and help you find the best path forward.
